Privacy Policy
Uplink is published by ProxyOmega LTD, 71-75 Shelton Street, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom.
The short version
Uplink collects no personal data. There is no account to create, no sign-up, no login, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising and no third-party SDK collecting anything about you. We do not operate a server that your app talks to. Apart from your own provider, the app makes one anonymous request for a public popularity list (see section 2a). We could not identify you if we tried.
Apple's App Store privacy label for Uplink is "Data Not Collected".
1. What stays on your device
Everything you put into Uplink is stored locally on your Apple TV and nowhere else:
- Playlist URLs, Xtream server addresses, usernames and passwords, Stalker portal URLs and MAC addresses
- The channel, movie and series catalogue downloaded from your provider (cached so the app opens quickly)
- Favourites, watch history and resume positions
- Your settings — theme accent, clock format, language filters, hidden categories, playback preferences
None of it is transmitted to us. We have no copy of it, no access to it, and no way to recover it if you delete the app.
iCloud backup. If you have iCloud backup enabled for your device, this on-device data may be included in your own encrypted iCloud backup, under your Apple Account. That is a service Apple provides to you; we have no access to it. You can turn it off in your device's iCloud settings.
Deleting the app deletes the data. There is no server-side copy to erase.
2. Who your credentials go to
When you connect a source, Uplink talks directly from your device to the provider you entered — nobody in between. Your credentials are sent to that provider's server because that is the only way to authenticate with it.
Uplink does not route your traffic through ProxyOmega infrastructure, or through any proxy, relay, CDN or analytics endpoint of ours. Uplink is an independent product and is not connected to or dependent on ProxyOmega's proxy services or any other ProxyOmega product.
What your provider does with your credentials, your IP address and your viewing activity is governed by their privacy policy, not ours. Please read it before you connect.
2a. The one other server Uplink contacts
Besides your own provider, Uplink makes one kind of outbound request that is not to your provider: it fetches a public "most popular titles" list from Cinemeta (v3-cinemeta.strem.io), an open metadata catalogue run by the Stremio project. This is used only to order the "Trending now" and "Popular now" rows against titles that already exist in your playlist.
That request contains no personal data, no credentials, no identifier and nothing about your playlist — it is the same anonymous request for the same public list, sent from every copy of Uplink. The result is cached on your device for 12 hours, and if it fails, the rows simply fall back to your provider's own ordering. As with any internet request, Cinemeta's operators will see the IP address it came from.
If you would rather Uplink made no such request, the feature degrades harmlessly: block the domain at your router and the app continues to work.
3. Purchases
Uplink Premium is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system using StoreKit 2. Apple processes the payment. We never see your name, email address, card details, billing address or Apple Account ID.
What the app receives from Apple is an anonymous entitlement: essentially "this device's Apple Account is entitled to Premium" (and which plan). That is checked on-device to unlock features. Nothing is sent to us. Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
4. No analytics, tracking or ads
To be explicit, Uplink contains no:
- analytics or telemetry SDK (no Firebase, no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude, no self-hosted equivalent)
- crash-reporting service of our own (if you have opted in to Apple's device-level analytics sharing, Apple may send us aggregated, anonymised crash reports through App Store Connect — we cannot identify you from them, and you can turn that off in your device's Privacy settings)
- advertising, ad identifier (IDFA) or App Tracking Transparency prompt — we do not track you across apps or websites and never will
- fingerprinting, cookies or cross-device identifiers
- social login or third-party sign-in
5. We never sell or share your data
We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing to sell, rent, share, trade or hand over to data brokers or advertisers. We would not do it if we could.
If we ever received a lawful request from an authority for user data, we would have nothing to give them.
6. Your rights (UK GDPR and EU GDPR)
If we did process your personal data, you would have the right to access it, correct it, have it erased, restrict or object to its processing, port it, and withdraw consent — and the right to complain to a supervisory authority.
Because Uplink processes no personal data on our side, these rights are satisfied in practice by the design of the app: your data is under your sole control on your own device, and deleting the app erases it. If you believe we hold data about you, write to us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days.
- Data controller: ProxyOmega LTD, 71-75 Shelton Street, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom
- UK supervisory authority: Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk)
- EU residents: you may complain to your national data protection authority
For similar reasons, if you are a California resident, we do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not collect the categories of personal information listed there.
7. Children's privacy
Uplink is not directed at children and is rated for a general audience aged 13+. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK where that higher age applies). Because we collect nothing at all, no children's data ever reaches us.
Uplink plays whatever your own source provides, and we cannot filter or classify it. Parents and guardians should use the Apple TV's Settings → General → Restrictions and Screen Time controls to manage what can be watched on a shared device.
8. Security
Your source credentials are held in the app's own sandboxed storage on your device, protected by the device's own security. We recommend using a device passcode and keeping tvOS up to date. Note that some IPTV providers only offer plain HTTP; when that is the case, the connection to that provider is not encrypted — that is a limitation of the provider, not of Uplink, and it is another reason to check your provider's own practices.
9. Changes to this policy
If we ever change how the app handles data, we will update this page and change the "last updated" date above, and — if the change is material — describe it in the app's release notes. The current version always lives at uplinkplayer.app/privacy.
